Fanime ho~!!!
Those new to Anime Club may not be aware of our annual convention trip, so allow me to inform: For the past three years, UNM Anime Club has orchestrated a trip for its members to a nearby (hah!) Anime convention. For the past three years, we’ve gone to Project A-Kon in Dallas, TX.
Well… this year, we’re breaking tradition and heading west; West towards FANIME Con. For those Con veterans worried about trip logistics, relax. The trip is comparable in length, and similar in cost. And for those Con newbies confused and intrigued at the prospect of an anime convention… get ready to have your questions answered!

Yes. This weekend we’ll be back to our old Anime Club digs, where we’ll live out the rest of this semester’s meetings. So if anyone’s at all confused at all our room changes, rest assured that we’ll stay consistent for the next month and some.
Re: the schedule, we’ll be continuing Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid in Fumoffu’s stead. For those of you who saw this past weekend’s screening of Second Raid Vol. 1, please thank Funimation by taking this online survey (use my name for Q1, Justin Brough). Remember, it’s thanks to them that we had the DVD and the permissions to show you the episodes!
The rest of the schedule will be decided by online voting. We’re requiring login and registration for your vote to count now, so be sure to sign up and sign in to cast your ballot on the right. Links to this weekend’s anime possibilites follow… check ‘em out!

Hey club! Thanks to everyone who came to the Halloween Party, and a big thanks to Japanese Club for providing both the Movies and the Karaoke! The photos of the cosplay participants are now up on the forum, where you’ll find the winning entrant, Gordon Ream, who sported an excellent White Rabbit costume. He got $25 towards Hastings; If you see him, ask what he spent the dough on.
The poll for next week is up! You’ll have to log in to vote your prefrence, though. You can register and log in through the Meta column on the left. The rest of the poll stuff will remain constant, and it’ll close as usual on midnight of Thursday, so be sure to register if you’ve yet to, and vote [for anime] if you haven’t.
Couple other things. We’ll have an office computer with which to store anime for our library by next week, and we still need donations for the club collection, so if you have something you’d wish to donate, please let me know! Also, we’ll be screening a feature-length anime film in the theatre later this month, and we need need need suggestions on what to show. So please, use the Suggest an Anime form on the right and let us know what you’d like to see!

Guys, guess what!
Saturday’s our annual Halloween Partay (1 day late, I know), a co-venture between the UNM Japanese Club and our own organization. Let this post contain all details pertaining to it. Here goes:
It’ll happen during our regular club hours in our regular club location. For non-regular attendees, that’s Lobo A/B and Trail/Spirit from 2pm until 8pm. We’ll have food (and potluck), film screenings, video games, karaoke, and a cosplay contest. The first of the food will be there at 2:00pm, the film screenings will start at 3:00pm, and the karaoke and cosplay contest will commence during intermission (4:30pm). (The last screening will begin at 5:30, end around 7:00).

Not the club card
If you want to be a card-carrying member of the UNM Anime Club, you will need to see me (Devon, the Secretary) next club meeting, or anytime other time you can catch me.
Remember! To be eligible for a card you must have attended three or more meetings (if you haven’t signed in, but have been at the meetings just get somebody to vouch for you, I’m not going to be a hard ass about it)!
Thanks.
-Devon Stevens, UNM Anime Club Secretary
Congratulations to Lily Palmer for her winning entry in the Anime Club Logo competition! And a big thanks to everyone who participated! The rest of the entries follow the link below, and you can click them for a larger view. Don’t forget to leave a comment of thanks for our artists – they all did an excellent job!

Full Metal Panic: Fumoffu is on hiatus. Couldn’t tell you why, but ADV Films has been incommunicado regarding screening permissions for the past couple weeks; add this to the fact that their website is down due to Hurricane Ike, and we’re left with little choice but to put off showing the rest of the series, at least for now. Sorry! >_<
In the meantime, we’ll have Black Cat take up its stead. And as for the rest of Saturday’s schedule, there’s a new poll up full of fansubbed, unlicensed anime goodness. No screening permissions required there, so vote for a show this week and watch it this weekend!
Speaking of this weekend, we’ll have a couple different things going on to keep it fresh:
The first, which will take place at roughly 2:00pm Saturday, will be a round-table club discussion. Myself and the rest of Club’s officers will be laying out plans for the rest of the semester, and your input will be welcome and valued. So if you’d have any ideas for club and its direction, be sure to voice them!
Second, the judging of the Club Logo contest, will happen during Saturday’s Intermission (4:30). All club members are invited to take in an eyeful of the entries, and select that which is deemed most worthy of the glorious $25.00 RightStuf! gift certificate. I can’t wait to see what you’ve all come up with!
And if you’re an angelic artist or a devilish designer who’s not yet considered entering the contest, get in on it! There’s no entrance fee, and you have nothing to lose!
Seriously. We’re giving away $25.00. Give it a shot!
