Rollover Anime

The Ballroom was quite the change of pace… Did you guys like it, or no? Lemme know in the comments!

For this weekend’s meeting, we’re giving you guys a couple ‘a new options. First is Y-Quart, which involves a psychic detective, a superheroine, a conjurer, and a regular guy. They fight crime. Second is White Album, which introduces us to the lesser-known problems of dating a rising Idol. I’ve not seen either of these, so feel free to educate me. :)

Youtube opening clips follow the break:

Nu Animu Muvment

Whoa-oh! We’ve gone and run out of shows to watch! Not to worry, though, with the help of club member Tommy, I’ve compiled a list of replacement shows to possibly join Macross Frontier on the schedule. And this week you’ll be allowed three votes in the poll!

But what to vote on? Well, following the break are your options–each titles is linked to pertinent information about the anime. There’s also some Youtube footage to give you a taste of the shows (lots of it–take heed if your computer is slow). Polls close Friday at 12:01am, so don’t delay!

The Girl Who Leapt Through Time! This Monday!

As the title says! Be sure to come by the SUB Theatre at 5:30pm, Monday, March 9th and see the flick! Don’t know if want? Well, here’s a trailer to whet your appetite for big-screen Anime. :D

Strangers and Their Equipment

The showing’s tonight at the Century 14 Downtown across from the Bus Station! Check the trailer, and then check out the whole film at 7:30pm (tickets are available online for $12.50). My Impromptu Japanese Final may keep me from attending, but that remains to be seen, so lemme know in the comments if you’re going!

Anime? Goody!

This Saturday, Sam Goody in Coronado Mall is hosting an anime spectacular. Chief among reasons to stop by is their Buy 1, Get 1 Half-Off sale on everything anime-related–dvds, manga, wallscrolls, plushies… even Pocky!

In addition, there’ll be a Cosplay Contest at 3:00pm, Anime Trivia at 4:00pm, and a Raffle at 5:00pm! Throughout the day, they’re expecting to hand out over $500 worth of prizes! Exciting, I know!

Anime Club will still take place as per usual, but if you’d like a change of pace, definitely go check it out!

Poll 8 Anime

Registration and login for the polls can be accessed from the Meta category on the left sidebar. Once logged into Wordpress, you may vote in the weekly anime polls. You might also want to edit your password into something that’s more memorable than the string of letters and numbers that it gives you. Lobo Fiesta?

Yes. This weekend we’ll be back to our old Anime Club digs, where we’ll live out the rest of this semester’s meetings. So if anyone’s at all confused at all our room changes, rest assured that we’ll stay consistent for the next month and some. :)

Re: the schedule, we’ll be continuing Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid in Fumoffu’s stead. For those of you who saw this past weekend’s screening of Second Raid Vol. 1, please thank Funimation by taking this online survey (use my name for Q1, Justin Brough). Remember, it’s thanks to them that we had the DVD and the permissions to show you the episodes!

The rest of the schedule will be decided by online voting. We’re requiring login and registration for your vote to count now, so be sure to sign up and sign in to cast your ballot on the right. Links to this weekend’s anime possibilites follow… check ‘em out!

Wha-pdates?

Full Metal Panic: Fumoffu is on hiatus. Couldn’t tell you why, but ADV Films has been incommunicado regarding screening permissions for the past couple weeks; add this to the fact that their website is down due to Hurricane Ike, and we’re left with little choice but to put off showing the rest of the series, at least for now. Sorry! >_<

In the meantime, we’ll have Black Cat take up its stead. And as for the rest of Saturday’s schedule, there’s a new poll up full of fansubbed, unlicensed anime goodness. No screening permissions required there, so vote for a show this week and watch it this weekend!

Speaking of this weekend, we’ll have a couple different things going on to keep it fresh:

The first, which will take place at roughly 2:00pm Saturday, will be a round-table club discussion. Myself and the rest of Club’s officers will be laying out plans for the rest of the semester, and your input will be welcome and valued. So if you’d have any ideas for club and its direction, be sure to voice them!

Second, the judging of the Club Logo contest, will happen during Saturday’s Intermission (4:30). All club members are invited to take in an eyeful of the entries, and select that which is deemed most worthy of the glorious $25.00 RightStuf! gift certificate. I can’t wait to see what you’ve all come up with!

And if you’re an angelic artist or a devilish designer who’s not yet considered entering the contest, get in on it! There’s no entrance fee, and you have nothing to lose!

Seriously. We’re giving away $25.00. Give it a shot! :D
