Anime for the week:

Detective Conan

Shinichi Kudo (Jimmy Kudo in dub), a young and talented (if not cocky) high school student who frequently helps with detective work, is forced to ingest an experimental poison which ends up turning him into a grade school kid.  Taking the pseudonym of Conan Edogawa, he continues to help with detective work covertly while waiting for a cure to the poison, or for it to simply wear off.

Milky Holmes

Set in the near future in the Great Era of Detectives, chosen people are born with supernatural abilities known as Toys (トイズ Toizu?). Those who use these Toys for evil are responsible for a wave of crimes and necessitates employing Toy-using detectives to help solve them. In the Yokohama District, Opera Kobayashi runs a detective agency, Milky Holmes, staffed by four aspiring young girl detectives who attend the Holmes Detective Academy, and each girl possesses their own unique Toy.

In the anime series, the four girls, Sherlock, Nero, Hercule and Cordelia, lose the ability to use their Toys during an encounter with the phantom thieves. Taken away from their rich lifestyle and thrown into an attic, the girls must try and regain use of their Toys or else face expulsion from Holmes Detective Academy.

Gosick

That’s actually pronounced similarly to “Gothic,” in case you were wondering.  Gosick takes place in 1924 in a small, French-speaking fictional European country, which stretches in a strip from Switzerland, through the alps between France and Italy, to the Mediterranean Sea. The country is called “Sauville” in the English translation of the light novels; it is called “Saubure” in the anime adaption. The story centers on Kazuya Kujo, the third son of a high ranking officer of Japanese Imperial Army, who is a transfer student to St. Marguerite Academy, where urban legends and horror stories are all the rage. There he meets Victorique, a mysterious yet beautiful and brilliant girl who never comes to class and spends her days reading the entire content of the library or solving mysteries that even detectives can’t solve. The series mostly focuses on Kazuya and Victorique getting involved in different mystery cases and their struggle to solve them, at the same time forming important bonds with different people.

(Descriptions taken from Wikipedia with the exception of Conan, as I haven’t personally watched the other two~)
