In other news, this is our last meeting for the semester since final exams are dreadfully looming upon us. Also, as a reminder to those members registered for our Fanime 2013 trip, the full remaining payment is due this Saturday. Hope to see you there!

The movies will be decided soon. Make sure you not only come to watch, but to play as well. That’s right  we will have a wide verity of Pokemon game that we all cane enjoy. We will have Pokemon stadium both 1 and 2, as well as battle revolution. Make sure you bring your Pokemon games from Red, to Pearl. The games well will have are compatible to your the Gameboy and DS games. This means you can fight with your own Pokemon team and fight other players teams as well on the big screen.

Also bring your Pokemon TCG cards so you can trade, and battle with your card decks. If it’s anything to do with Pokemon bring it!

Also a reminder that 4/27/2013 is the LAST DAY FOR FANIME PAYMENTS, if you want to go on the trip be sure to come down and sign up. The last day of club for the semester, that day will be our field day we we otakus brave the heat and have some fun in the park. More on that next week though.

Ghost in the Shell – Stand Alone Complex

In the future, life between the digital and physical world has been blurred. The boundary of technology and humanity has been stretched beyond imagination with lives being led in both the electronic and physical worlds. With the melding of man and machine, a new cybernetic level of existence is being created —an existence that continues to redefine mankind.

Noein

Fifteen years in the future, by high-level scientific power, a violent battle takes place between Lacrima, that protects humanity, and Shangri-La, that plans the annihilation of all space-time. The key to stopping Shangri-La’s invasion is a mysterious object known as “the Dragon’s Torque.” A group known as the Dragon Cavalry is being sent through space and time to find it. In the present, twelve-year old Haruka and her friend Yuu are contemplating running away from home when they meet a member of the Dragon Cavalry named Karasu (Crow). He believes that Haruka has the Dragon’s Torque and claims to be Yuu from fifteen years in the future.

Steins Gate

Rintaro Okabe is a self-proclaimed “mad scientist” who believes that an international scientific organization named SERN is conspiring to reshape the world according to its own interests. He and his friend Itaru Hashida inadvertently create a gadget able to send messages to the past. The discovery and experimentation of this instrument become the catalyst of fundamental alterations to the present. Okabe is the only one aware of these changes because he possesses a Reading Steiner, the ability to retain the memories from previous experienced timelines. Oblivious of the consequences of their actions, Rintaro and his friends end up creating modifications of grievous proportions. He must then try to find a way to return as close as possible to the original timeline in order to save his precious lab partners.

Macross Frontier

After being threatened by extinction at the hands of alien invaders called the Zentradi, humanity undertook the task of guaranteeing itself a future by launching fleets of colony ships into space. On Macross Frontier, one such fleet, high school student Saotome Alto’s life is changed forever: the fleet is suddenly attacked by unidentified creatures while he is performing aerial stunts for a concert by the wildly popular idol Sheryl.

Alto quickly finds himself in the cockpit of a new-model fighter struggling to protect Ranka Lee, a young girl he met only hours earlier, from the invaders’ swath of destruction. Noting his performance during this incident, the S.M.S. Skull Squadron private military company invites Alto to join their organization, where he continues protecting his friends and Macross Frontier.

Fafner

Tatsumiyajima is the central island in the middle of a small cluster of islands, in a sleepy backwater of the Japanese isles. Not much happens there, and the island’s young people go to school knowing that their lives are likely to remain peaceful and undisturbed. Or so they have been taught… but the truth is different. The fate of mankind is on the line, and Tatsumiyajima is the last line of defense against a hostile and incomprehensible enemy. At the center of it all, fighting for Humanity’s continued existence, is the giant robot Fafner, the dragon that guards this final treasure of mankind.

The Big O

Paradigm City is a place without a past. 40 years ago, something happened that wiped the memories of everyone in it. Unfortunately, the people of Paradigm City were very busy before then, making Megadueses(giant robots) and monsters. People who were born after the memory wipe are gaining/recovering memories of the past and using them to build newer threats. Roger Smith keeps Paradigm City safe with the help of The Big O (a faithful giant robot), his butler Norman and the android Dorothy, Roger keeps Paradigm City safe. As problems mount and more memories surface, Roger’s past and Paradigm’s future begin to become suspect…

Tenchi Universe

Yeah, this show again. Tenchi Masaki may be a 17-year-old young man in rural Japan, but little does he know how bad his day will be getting. When a space pirate chased by a pair of Galaxy Police officers crash-lands at his grandfather’s temple, Tenchi is sucked into a new adventure that will literally blast him off into outer space and beyond.

Portrays the lives of several school girls attending a Japanese high school with a very loose humor tone. The main heroine is Konata Izumi, an athletic and intelligent girl who, despite these attributes, is not in a sports club, and her grades remain low. Her laziness at school is due to her love for anime and video games, and she is not interested in much else.

Persona 4

Yu Narukami has moved from Tokyo to Inaba to stay with his uncle and cousin, while his parents are away on business. However, after a murder shakes up the sleepy town, things get even more crazy when he discovers the mysterious “Midnight Channel,” and that he has the even more mysterious ability to enter TVs. Accompanied by his disbelieving friends, Yu discovers another world inside the TVs, that seems to be connected with the murder. They also discover the ability to summon ‘Persona’, their ‘other selves’, whose power they can use to fight the shadows that inhabit the TV world. The murders, the Midnight Channel, the world inside the TV, and Persona. Yu and his friends fight to figure out how they’re connected, and to solve the case before it’s too late.

Zetsubow Senshi

Itoshiki Nozomu is always in despair! Even simple things like paying for the toll on the subway can send him to a despair so deep only attempted suicide is the answer. How Strange is it then, that he should be the teacher of a High School Class filled with students with even more emotional problems than his. This great Comedy will leave you in anything but ‘Despair’ as you meet each of his students and watch their wacky adventures.

Greetings fellow Anime Club members both old and new! We are proud to host our highly anticipated Nostalgia Day tomorrow! We will be showing a great assortment of nostalgic anime classics from the 80′s and 90′s as well as providing nostalgic light snacks and other entertainment! A complete list of the anime to be shown can be found after the jump.

Sailor Moon

A classic “magical girl” anime which redefined the genre throughout the 90′s! The protagonist of Sailor Moon, Usagi Tsukino, an ordinary, ditzy, 14-year-old girl — or so she thinks — discovers a talking cat named Luna, who reveals Usagi’s identity as “Sailor Moon”, a special warrior with the destiny of saving the planet Earth, and later the entire galaxy. Usagi must now find the Moon Princess and protect Earth from a series of antagonists, beginning with the Dark Kingdom that had appeared once before, long ago, and destroyed the Kingdom of the Moon.

Pokémon

Another classic which is still alive and kicking with new episodes and games! We will return to the very beginning of this epic adventure. The anime follows the quest of the main character, Ash Ketchum (known as Satoshi in Japan) a Pokémon Master in training, as he and a small group of friends travel around the fictitious world of Pokémon along with their Pokémon partners. The original series, titled Pocket Monsters, or simply Pokémon in western countries (often referred to as Pokémon: Gotta Catch ‘Em All to distinguish it from the later series), begins with Ash’s first day as a Pokémon trainer. His first (and signature) Pokémon is a Pikachu, differing from the games, where only Bulbasaur, Charmander, or Squirtle could be chosen. The series follows the storyline of the original games, Pokémon Red and Blue, in the region of Kanto.

Dragon Ball Z

Since we are showing a classic magical girl anime, it only seems fair we show a classic fighting guy anime! Dragon Ball Z follows the adventures of adult Goku who, along with his companions, defends the earth against an assortment of villains ranging from intergalactic space fighters and conquerors, unnaturally powerful androids and near indestructible magical creatures. This is the series which started the yellow-hair = super-powerful concept found in many internet memes and other references!

Tenchi Universe

As we promised, we will be continuing this series to its season completion and furthermore, it fits nicely into our classic anime showcase! Please visit an earlier post for more information on this series.

Hey everyone this week’s meeting is movie night.  This week though we are going to be in the Movie Theater at lobo village.  We are meeting at same time so come and be prepared to watch some awesome mystery movies!
