Fastie

Hey Club!

To start, I’d like to say “Thanks!” to everyone who signed up for Fanime! So far we have 20 people going, and I hope that you’re all as excited about the con as I am. :D For those of you who’d like to know more about what’s going to be happening at the con, be sure and visit the Fanime Event Page. Oh, and if you’d like to go, but haven’t made a deposit yet, never fear! There are still unbooked rooms at our con hotel, so if you get the money to us ASAP, we can still reserve some space for you!

Next, I’d like to let all you Smashers know that there’s a tournament going on this Sunday at Gamers Anonymous (on Wyoming and Constitution) at 5:00pm. So if your Smash Bros. muscles are long overdue for some flexing… that’s the place to be!

Last before I post the schedule are some announcements to whet your appetite for the weeks leading up to Spring Break. First is our theatre screening of The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, which is tentatively scheduled for Monday, March 9th. We’re taking all possible measures to make sure this goes off without a hitch, but–as last time showed–we could still run into problems, so keep checking back!

Our next event will be a Club BBQ/Potluck on Saturday, March 14th! WIth some help, we’ll have food, friends, and fun–picnic style! The ‘where’ remains to be determined, but it’ll likely be here on Campus. So go ahead and get thinking about what food to bring and what activities you’d like to see!

Quickie

Guys,

Sorry ’bout the zero-poll/zero-update week. It’s been busy, so this week’s schedule will just be a repeat of last weeks, with episode advancements ;) If you’d like a review, see the link! We’ll see you later today!

Vee Day Play List

Hey club! Just a quick n’ dirty update this time around… hope you’re not disappointed!

Yes, we will be having a meeting this weekend, as per usual. This meeting is deadline to join Anime Club’s FANIME excursion with a deposit of $50 (with $50 more to be paid by March 31st). Remember, the $100 total pays for your con registration and lodging for four (count ‘em: FOUR) nights! That’s quite a deal!

Again, if you really want to go, but have doubts about getting the money on time, talk with me (Justin) before the meeting, or with Devon or Kim during intermission… we might be able to work something out.

We’ll be in Mirage/Thunderbird and Trail Spirit this time around! Here’s the schedule (after the link):

Old, New, Exiting, Etcetera

Hey, Anime Club! There’s been several developments since I last updated the mailing list, so I’ll fill you all in. Before that, however, I’d just like to remind you all that you can visit our website to get the most up-to-date information as far as screenings and special events go. Not to mention that you can vote for which anime you’d like to see during the meetings! And this semester, we’ll also be working to keep you all informed of anime-related news and events close by or pertinent.

Our first bit of news involves our Vice President, John, who has elected to step down from his post in order to better focus on school. We appreciate his help up to this point, and wish him well in all his scholastic endeavors. Filling out the vacancy will be our (now former-) Advertiser, Erica! She’ll be present both on the site and at the meetings… so make sure and greet her as the new Vice President of Anime Club!

Next on the list-o’-announcements is our trip to Fanime! We’ve been alluding to more info on this for the past couple meetings, but you can finally visit our FANIME FAQ on the site and have all your questions answered! Worth noting is that the deadline for reserving a spot in the trip is next Saturday, Feburary 14th! So if you’re interested in going, bust that piggy bank and get a deposit of $50 to us by then! We’ll accept cash, checks (made out to Justin Brough), and Paypal (available on the site).

That’s it for now! We’ll be meeting in Lobo A/B and Fiesta A/B this Saturday from 4:00pm to 8:00pm… our scheduled list on anime can be found after the link:

Strangers and Their Equipment

The showing’s tonight at the Century 14 Downtown across from the Bus Station! Check the trailer, and then check out the whole film at 7:30pm (tickets are available online for $12.50). My Impromptu Japanese Final may keep me from attending, but that remains to be seen, so lemme know in the comments if you’re going!

FANIME FAQ

Fanime ho~!!!

Those new to Anime Club may not be aware of our annual convention trip, so allow me to inform: For the past three years, UNM Anime Club has orchestrated a trip for its members to a nearby (hah!) Anime convention. For the past three years, we’ve gone to Project A-Kon in Dallas, TX.

Well… this year, we’re breaking tradition and heading west; West towards FANIME Con. For those Con veterans worried about trip logistics, relax. The trip is comparable in length, and similar in cost. And for those Con newbies confused and intrigued at the prospect of an anime convention… get ready to have your questions answered!
