UPDATE: After due consideration, walk-off stages (Green Hill Zone and Yoshi’s Island (Pipes)) have removed from Counter-Picks and Castle Siege, Delfino, Halberd, Rainbow Cruise and Pokemon Stadium 1 have been added.
More details and rules follow the link:
Match progression:
1. Players choose their characters in a double-blind fashion.
2. Each player may ban a stage for the match from the counterpick selection.
3. First game on a random, neutral stage.
4. Loser chooses their counterpick stage.
5. Winner chooses their character.
6. Loser chooses their character.
7. Next game is played.
8. If a third game is necessary, repeat steps 4-7.
Additional Rules:
- Players are responsible for their own controller/control scheme and name tag, and should confirm settings before the start of the match.
- In the event of a dispute, controller ports will be decided by Rock, Paper, Scissors.
- In the event of time expiry, the winner is chosen by by lowest percentage instead of sudden death.
- Any action that can prevent the game from continuing (i.e., freezing, disappearing characters, game reset, etc.) will result in a forfeit of that match for the player that initiated the action.
- Stalling is banned (i.e. the act of deliberately avoiding any and all conflict so that one may make the game unplayable).
Character-Specific:
- Metaknight is banned from character selection.
- Metaknight’s Infinite Cape glitch is banned (on the off-chance someone chooses random and gets him).
- If a game ends with Bowser doing his suicide klaw and it ends in sudden death, the sudden death will be ignored and that game will count as a win for Bowser.
Neutral Stages:
- Battlefield
- Final Destination
- Yoshi’s Island
- Smashville
- Lylat Cruise
Counterpick Stages
- Brinstar
- Castle Siege
- Delfino
- Distant Planet
- Frigate Orpheon
- Halberd
- Jungle Japes
- Luigi’s Mansion
- Lylat Cruise
- Norfair
- Pictochat
- Pirate Ship
- Pokemon Stadium 1
- Pokemon Stadium 2
- Rainbow Cruise

You have island pipes legal, pirate ship legal, but no rainbow cruise? What is up with that.
FYI. There is an ACT that day, so I would start registration at 12:30, end it at 1:30.
Props on banning MK.
Now if only we could justifiably ban Pikachu. That would make me really happy.
lol who loses to Pickachu nowadays?
EVERYONE AAHAHAHA
no rly he’s good i swear.
Pikachu isn’t good enough to win fairly large-scale tournaments.
Also, Justin, you can expect at least 3 extra setups from the rest of us down here at Smash World Forums.
I also advise you to listen to Sinz about the schedule change, many people in this age group will be taking the ACT that morning. No need to pile on more stresses about missing brawl tournaments.
LOL. MK is so good that even when he is banned, we have to ban his ats. Also, lol at banning pika.
So does the MK ban apply to both the singles AND doubles tournament?
What’s so scary about Pikachu? Or maybe you’re referring to his final smash…
Is it possible to invite someone not attending UNM, but is a family member, to participate in the tournament?
@Alphabravo
Yeah, MK is banned outright from both.
@Steffanie
You bet! This event is open to all Super Smash Bros. Brawl players!
