Guys, guess what!
Saturday’s our annual Halloween Partay (1 day late, I know), a co-venture between the UNM Japanese Club and our own organization. Let this post contain all details pertaining to it. Here goes:
It’ll happen during our regular club hours in our regular club location. For non-regular attendees, that’s Lobo A/B and Trail/Spirit from 2pm until 8pm. We’ll have food (and potluck), film screenings, video games, karaoke, and a cosplay contest. The first of the food will be there at 2:00pm, the film screenings will start at 3:00pm, and the karaoke and cosplay contest will commence during intermission (4:30pm). (The last screening will begin at 5:30, end around 7:00).

Hey Club!
This Saturday, our meeting will be in EDUC 104. Same hours, different locale. Consult the mini-map above (on the site if you’re reading this as an email) if you’re not sure where that is. The SUB, our usual meeting place, is colored blue, and EDUC 104, where we’ll have this weekend’s meeting is all red-like. If you need s’more directions, call me at (505) 879-8940.
The schedule will be decided a little differently in light of some unforseen developments. We had hoped to show you Full Metal Panic: The Second Raid, but there’s been a hitch in acquiring the DVD and permissions. So instead, we’ll try doing a secret ballot before club commences. We’ll only take options from 2:00pm until 3:00pm, so appear sometime in there if you’re in a voting kinda mood.
At 2:00 we’ll finally lay some work on the Collab Comic.
And at 4:30 we’ll have some details on next week’s Halloween party.

There won’t be a meeting this Saturday, guys and gals. It’s Fall Break, don’tcha know? So join us in celebration by breaking the Anime Club routine, ’cause after this weekend will be a little different.
Our meeting next Saturday (October 25th) will take place in the lecture hall, EDUC 104, instead of our usual location. The reason’s simple: Lobo and Fiesta and – well – everything in the Student Union Bldg. are booked that weekend. But don’t fret! We’ll have all our regular showings, and maybe some extra stuff.
If you’re looking for stuff to do during our short hiatus, we’ll keep updating. So keep checking back, and we’ll keep you posted. Deal?

I was honestly a bit surprised at the poll results this week. Sketchbook has been winning favor since its debut a couple weeks ago, but Dennou Coil has been out of winning favor for just as long. Whatever the circumstances, you – the Club members – have spoken! And we’ll have for you some cats and some kids for this Saturday’s meeting!
Things going on this Saturday include an artistic creativity experiment at 2:00, where those interested can pitch ideas for the collaborative club manga, which we’ll begin/assign work on. In addition, there’ll be some blank Dinosaur Comic templates for those who maybe aren’t so good with the drawing. So all-in-all, a fun excercise for everyone’s left brain. All the cool hemispheres are gonna be there. 
Also, since October is now here, Halloween isn’t far behind. In prep for our Halloween party a few weeks from now, our resident cosplayin’ officer Kim will be presenting on the art and act of cosplay during intermission. Those interested or experienced should definitely take note, and even if you’re averse to the notion of dressing up, you can still see all the cool costumes other people have concocted! Great fun!!!
Lastly, we have some muy importante news items. First, we will not have a meeting next week (that’s October 18th) on account of Fall Break. And Second, for our October 25th meeting (the weekend after next), our meeting will not be held in the Student Union Bldg. Instead, we’ll be occupying the lecture hall in Education 104. The room’s not final yet, but we’ll keep you posted with any updates. The room change will be a one-weekend thing done out of necessity, and we’ll be back in the SUB for our Halloween party!

Not the club card
If you want to be a card-carrying member of the UNM Anime Club, you will need to see me (Devon, the Secretary) next club meeting, or anytime other time you can catch me.
Remember! To be eligible for a card you must have attended three or more meetings (if you haven’t signed in, but have been at the meetings just get somebody to vouch for you, I’m not going to be a hard ass about it)!

A big thanks to everyone who came to the tournament! And an even bigger thanks to those who helped out with the advertising, the set-ups, the judging, and everything else that went into our first fund-raising production! We could not have done it without all your help!!
For this weekend, we’ll finally have those membership cards ready, so be sure to show up for those. I know we’ve been a bit behind, but the final design is now with our printer and the cards will be with you all soon! We’ll also have a little cosplay thingy set for intermission. Not quite sure on the details, but if you wanna help, or are interested, email Kim or myself.

Here’re the possible choices for this weekend’s anime! Not much else to say, ‘cept that we’ll have the full Brawl tournament results up Monday, as well as some more details on just about everything that’s coming up now that we’ve got some money to dip into! So check back soon!

Brawl Tournament! Tomorrow (Saturday)! Are you pumped? We’ll begin preparation at 12:00 noon, so if you’re planning on providing a Wii set-up, helping to get things ready, or looking for some friendly matches, appear then-abouts and we’ll accommodate as best we can. And if you’d like to volunteer full- or close to full-time in the tournament, we’re doing a pre-tourney meeting Friday (Today) at 4:00pm in the Lobo Lair (located in the SUB), and briefing will take place then and there.
And one last-minute update pertaining to the tournament: the prizes (for the top 3) will be Gift Cards to Gamestop. The value placed on each will depend on the number of entrants, so a big turnout could mean quite the prize pot – Tell your friends!
In other news, we now have a Myspace group, in addition to our Facebook! So join UNM Anime Club and invite your buddies! And just to whet your appetite for the future, we have membership cards, t-shirts, cosplay, theatre screenings, a Halloween(-esque) party, and the grand Library debut all in the works! There’s also an interesting topic of note brewing in the forums, definitely take a look at it if you’re an artist!
